Our client received invoices from telecommunication carriers throughout the US. They needed effective data analysis tools to identify and resolve disputes on usage charges. They also needed a reliable way to improve call routing in order to minimize long-distance phone charges.

To maximize operational effectiveness, our client needed simple, easy to use tools so training and labor costs would not increase.

After thoroughly assessing their specific goals, and identifying additional areas for improvement, we worked with the client’s Billing Systems team to develop a data mart that stored all calls made by customers for a rolling 90-day period. The amount of data collected and organized totaled approximately 1.3 terabytes. The data mart provided reliable information and flexible reporting tools for usage charge disputes.

dymetrics, inc. then built a flexible web-based interface creating dynamic queries to access both internal and phone carrier data. Combining the client's data with an external database, we monitored how the company’s trunks were routing calls. For the first time, our client could quickly see precisely how calls were being routed - instead of how they thought calls were being routed. Long distance charges were significantly reduced by eliminating situations where local calls were routed through long-distance carriers.

To address the client’s need for simplicity and efficiency, we created background processes to query detailed records, write the resulting data to a file, and notify the user by email when their reports were available to be downloaded.
