Background:

Our client maintained an extensive customer database, but their existing reporting system provided limited and restrictive web templates for accessing data and creating reports. Significant time and effort was required to create additional reports.

Our client asked for a simpler, more efficient way to access all of their data; a user-friendly interface; and more flexible reporting, charting, and graphing tools. In short, they wanted to make use of all their customer data to make better sales and marketing decisions.

Solution:

We created an easy to use report-generation system giving our client maximum flexibility for creating reports, analyzing data, and making data-driven decisions. We designed and developed a web-based OLAP (On-Line Analytical Processing) reporting system using ASP.Net and Microsoft’s Analysis Services.

We also designed more than fifteen dynamic templates to quickly display hundreds of useful reports. In addition, we utilized Microsoft‘s Office Web Components to add powerful charting and graphing capabilities to the application: users can dynamically create reports simply by dragging and dropping dimensions in the Office Web Component Pivot Table Control.

Comments:

We also built projection tools to help identify subscribers whose contracts would be ending soon - meaning they could possibly cancel service at contract expiration. The sales department used these tools to identify customers who had a solid credit rating and offer promotional incentives to sign up for a new contract.

The application greatly improves the company’s understanding and management of their subscriber base. We provided useful tracking of internal metrics on sales department (staff and management) performance, and of marketing campaigns by sales region and sales channel.
